Grand Canyon Vacations

Grand Canyon is one of the must-sees when traveling to USA – its unique landscapes attract about five million tourists a year. It’s world’s largest canyon with the depth of 1,5 km and the length of more than 300 km. The canyon is located on Colorado River in the state of Arizona. In 1919 it received a status of the National Park. The South Rim of the canyon is much more accessible for tourists and is opened all year round. It can boast good hotels and a developed tourism infrastructure. The North Rim is located at 354 km distance and has only one hotel. Moreover, it’s closed during winter season. It receives only 10 percents of the whole amount of the tourists to Canyon, so it’s a perfect place to be away from the noise and bustle, common for a popular tourist attractions.

There are several ways to see the Canyon – to watch it from the observing platform, to descend to the river valley or to go down stream, to make horse riding or a helicopter walk. Anyway, it’s necessary to be very careful when traveling to Grand Canyon – it’s very hot here in the summer and there are very difficult routes up and down canyon, so it’s recommended to travel with a guide. If your trip to the canyon is longer than one day, it’s better to book a hotel nearby. There is a description of the some of them.

Best Western Grand Canyon Squire Inn is located just a few steps away from the South Rim entrance to Grand Canyon National Park and provides all the necessary amenities for a comfortable travel and even more - art collection, fireside lounge and Family Fun Center. It’s a relatively big hotel offering 250 well-appointed rooms. In Best Western Grand Canyon Squire Inn one can enjoy wonderful sunsets and sunrises or relax under the stars – the surroundings are incredible.

Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites and its 164 rooms can also become a good choice for spending some time in Grand Canyon. The hotel also has 30 one and two bedroom mini-suites. For those who want to relax with a comfort there are new indoor pool and spa. Among the facilities in standard rooms are King bed or two Queen beds, free high speed Internet, cable TV, and coffee makers. Rooms with Priority Club status also have microwave and refrigerator.

The Grand Canyon Red Feather Lodge lies in the heart of Tusayan – small town located one mile south of the south entrance to the Grand Canyon National Park. Red Feather Lodge has two floors and 215 rooms. Each room has an outside entrance. For having a rest after a hard day the hotel offers heated outdoor pool opened from March until October, depending on the weather.

In all these hotels they will be glad to advise tourists the best places in the area, to reserve or to recommend an excursion. The room rates in all these properties don’t differ very much, so your choice is the matter of taste.
